The spirit of design thinking is similar to teachers’ pedagogical reasoning in designing a lesson or a learning journey for learners. They have to redefine problems and discover new ways to engage learners and to meet their needs. Traditional lesson planning is often teacher-centred, teachers are led by a linear, rational thinking model which might restrict innovative solutions to materialise. Design thinking provides a framework to work up students’ minds and help them find novel solutions, a lesson design thinking approach does fit in training pedagogical knowledge of prospective teachers, novice teachers and experienced teachers.
