Project Outline

The project introduces design thinking as a curriculum and a pedagogy in the design and delivery of pedagogy courses, responding to the needs of society to drive future teachers’ creativity development. It introduces design thinking as a pedagogy. It aims to develop a set of learning and teaching materials based on the concept of design thinking and apply the materials in three pedagogy courses in teacher education programmes at both the undergraduate (B.Ed. and other disciplines) and post-graduate levels (TLS6036, and TLS6065).

The project will be evaluated based on assessment on students’ creative abilities (creative self-efficacy and teaching innovation) and engagement based on a questionnaire as they go through a stimulating, integrated learning experience in the study. The project also includes the reflection of developers as a major component in the evaluation, student co-developers, including students of undergraduate and post-graduate levels who previously took the relevant pedagogical courses, and professors who initiated the project will share their ideas regarding the design and implementation of the design-thinking curriculum programme in group interviews. Student evaluation of teaching (SET) as well as students’ course work will be considered to suggest the quality of learning and teaching and the outcomes of the project.

The materials shared in this platform can be adapted for use for other courses of C&I including TLS6066 Principles and Practice of Innovative Instructional Design and TLS3005 Assessment for Productive Learning, and other departments which offer pedagogy courses. It can be useful for departments of other Faculties which offer ‘subject’ specialism in a variety of disciplines.
